Hundreds of thousands of people are set to hit the streets in Dubai this weekend as a massive fitness event returns.

Dubai Run, a flagship event during November’s Dubai Fitness Challenge, will see Sheikh Zayed Road converted into a huge running track on Sunday November 23.

Officially, the world’s largest free community event, it is totally free to take part, and you can still sign up for this year’s edition.

There are two routes available, over distances of 5km and 10km, which both provide the once-a-year chance to run on Sheikh Zayed Road.

The family-friendly flat 5km route begins on Sheikh Zayed Road near Museum of the Future, passes the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Opera, ending near Dubai Mall.

And the 10km route, designed for more experienced runners, starts at the same location before crossing the Dubai Canal Bridge, then loops along Sheikh Zayed Road and finishes near DIFC Gate.

T-shirt allocation is now complete for this year’s event, but you’re still able to sign up for the world’s largest free fun run here.

All you need to do is provide your name, date of birth, contact number, email, gender and the city you reside in to register.

You’ll then be asked if you’d like to register any children for the event, choose your distance, pick a starting time and provide an emergency contact number. And that’s it, you’re all set.

The Dubai Run is part of a citywide initiative encouraging residents to make time for 30 minutes of exercise every day for 30 days.

The event starts at 6.30am on Sunday November 23, with the final runners crossing the starting line at 8am. It is slated to finish at 9am to allow for one of Dubai’s busiest roads to reopen.

If you’re taking part, then make sure you collect your bib from the Zabeel Park Fitness Village between now and Saturday November 22. If you don’t have a bib, you won’t be allowed to participate.
